In 2001 NASA inadvertently launched Captain David Alan Moon into deep space with no navigation system and no live feed to Earth. His only means of communication was through digital transfer. But no transfers were forthcoming. 

Minus David, NASA could only monitor the ship to a certain degree and use it to gather data, but could not find it. And not having received transmissions from Captain Moon, they assumed that he had somehow died. 

But on 09 / 27 / 2014, NASA received a mysterious file from the ship's mainframe computer. They hoped to see a video of Captain Moon, thirteen years older but healthy and in good spirits with some explanation as to the missing years.
